GEORGE CHIJIOKE AMADI'S PROFILE

George Chijioke Amadi, author of the poem, “A Wife’s Neck Saved”, published in an anthology of poetry compiled through new media and social networking in 2011, studied French with a USAID Scholarship grant at the Catholic University of Lovanium in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. He also bagged an Advanced Diploma in Journalism from Times Journalism Institute, Lagos. Earlier, in his youth, he attended King’s College, Lagos. Over many years, he has worked as journalist, with a long sojourn at the News Agency of Nigeria climaxing as editor, before setting up a media consultancy and working with the United Nations. He has written a book for aspiring journalists titled “HOW TO BE A GOOD JOURNALIST”, and recently, three of his poems have appeared in Ruralwatch, a Lagos-based magazine which he edited for several years. Struck by the bewildering devastation that descended on Banda Aceh, when a Tsunami hit South-East Asia on Boxing Day in 2005, he has never stopped writing poetry on the ever-changing human condition, most recent of which resulted in a 300-KPH wind-pummelling of the city of Tacloban, a tourist destination in the Philippines.
